EGGSLUT.

This scrumptious looking breakfast sandwich can be found in DTLA’s very own Grand Central Market. The eatery lies at the front of it all, closest to the sidewalks, of the market. While other eateries are stationed nearby (tacos, ramen, ice cream, juiceries, etc), Eggslut remains the most popular attraction of the entire market. On a Thursday afternoon, it wrapped around the back of the stand, but on weekends, the line is rumored to have ran all the way down the sidewalk. Despite being extremely busy, all the staff maintained positive attitudes and while you did still feel bad they’d have to work during a rush, they never faltered. I was able to speak to a man who I presume to be the owner of the establishment and he was super nice, friendly, and courteous. You can tell he’s a passion for what he does and he loves to hear feedback from everyone who decides to swing by.

Chicken wings… ch-ch-chicken wings

You’re in luck! If you were thinking ‘hmmmm, I might want to get some dinner before I try out CottonHi’, well… YOU CAN. In the same plaza as CottonHi, lies KyoChon, a Korean style chicken wing spot. Korean style chicken wings are a lot different than your local Popeyes or Church’s chicken. These chicken wings may be fried and such but they taste a lot better (and make you feel less shitty) than American style chicken wings.

LONG TIME NO BLOG POST. Given how busy I’ve been with the semester starting up again, becoming active in my sorority again, but as well as getting deathly ill, there hasn’t been much opportunity to go out and adventure. This past weekend I was, however, able to go out on a short hike. This little trail called the Topanga Overlook, located in the canyons, provided a bit of exercise and great bonding time for our little group.

brunch n views

This trendy place is known as the Roof on Wilshire– located on the roof of the Hotel Wilshire on Wilshire Blvd (the redundance kind of reminds me of Marc Jacobs by Marc Jacobs for Marc Jacobs… lol). This rooftop brunch has been praised for it’s great service, amazing views, and the quality of the food. You can use valet parking within the hotel for $6 with validation from the restaurant.

STAYS IN SD

I spent my 21st birthday in San Diego this weekend and I’ve gotta say it was one of the most fun nights I’ve had. There were so many places we wanted to go, but alas, not enough time 😥 I did get the opportunity to visit a few spots I’ve been wanting to try though!

Better Buzz Coffee in Point Loma is as good as it is trendy. Literally down the street from the hotel, we got the opportunity to pay this place a visit. Being the lactard and anti-coffee person I am, I ordered a soy Chai latte for about $4.50. In my head I was like, I’m sure it’ll taste how any other chai latte would, BUT OMG. IT WAS SO GOOD. EVEN FOR JUST A SOY CHAI. Everyone else got things like the Vanilla Buzz and frappes, and even those were good enough for my anti-coffee tastebuds.

Bea Bea’s, supposedly pronounced bee-bee’s, is located in a large grocery-ish plaza in Burbank. Katrina and I gave this place a visit one Sunday afternoon for brunch after craving Eggs Benedict and green tea pancakes. When we arrived, the crowd waiting to be seated was no joke. Regardless, we were starving and wanted to try it so we put our name down and dealt with the wait. Despite being at the end of the list, we were seated within at least 15-20 minutes, even though they said it’d be about 30 minutes. They were very quick to clean up and seat new parties whenever tables opened up and I appreciated that.

Aesthetic galore!

Melrose Ave is the holy grail of trendy spots, especially murals. If you’re coming from Fairfax, you’ll find these particular places if you turn left onto Melrose. The stores on this side of Melrose are a lot more catered to the younger, trendy urban kids–thus explaining why there’s such cool murals over here. You’ll know you’re on the correct side, when you see the Last Kings store. And honestly, just park your car somewhere in the neighborhood and take a stroll if you’re looking to just have an impromptu photoshoot. Everyone in the area is super chill about people taking photos and they’re probably super used to it, so let your inner aesthetic instagrammer out~

These trendy, aesthetic photo spots can be found if you turn right onto Melrose, coming from Fairfax. These murals are located on the more “”””upper”””” Melrose side, with Nasty Gal just down the street from all these. In terms of these murals, you’ll find them just driving up and down the street, it doesn’t take a lot of hard looking. The parking enforcement will probably hunt me down for this, but don’t bother paying meter parking if you’re just gonna take pictures at these walls. Just put your car on hazard, run out, snap a pic and leave. But if you do plan on visiting these all on the same day, then definitely put some coins in the meter. But if you’re just stopping by, I hope I saved you a few cents hehe.
